The expression 6÷2(1+2) (or 6/2(1+2)) is a poorly written expression that causes errors due to slight misunderstandings in the order of operations (that don't normally come up). In this video, I will explain the motivation behind the order of operations and address the common errors that lead to the incorrect answer. I met up with Anthony of Brain Gainz and we asked people in public to give their answer to the problem.
Other variations include 4/2(9+3) and 8/2(2+2), these are identical in concept with different numbers.
